ABOUT ME
I’m Iman Yazdi, an Iranian filmmaker based in Toronto, studying Film Production at York University.
I moved to Canada to pursue filmmaking and continue developing my voice as a storyteller and visual creator behind the camera, and to build the ability to craft stories, atmosphere, tension, and emotion through images, sound, movement, and performance. What interests me most about filmmaking is how each project can develop its own tone, rhythm, and visual identity.
My work often explores atmosphere, emotion, tension, and human connection while experimenting across different genres and visual styles. Some of my recent projects include The Deaf Magician (2024), Between Notes (2025), and my latest short film, A Gift To You (2026).
Also, as a cinematographer, I’m interested in how lighting, framing, movement, and color can shape emotion and visually communicate ideas beyond dialogue. I’ve continued developing my cinematography work through recent projects such as Baba Noël (2026) and Telemachus (2025), focusing on creating visuals that feel immersive, intentional, and emotionally grounded.
Beyond my own projects, I value the collaborative nature of filmmaking and enjoy working closely with crews to bring ideas to life through experimentation, trust, and visual storytelling. I’ve worked across camera, lighting, grip, sound, editing, and post-production.
